Amber Morning
I wanted to capture the ambience of an early morning workout.
This painting is of the Oklahoma training track, across the street from the main track in Saratoga.
The rising sun gives the whole scene an amber glow. |

The Colors in Racing
This painting was done originally as a program cover for the Saratoga racetrack.
It is a colorful play of elements with the building and the horses. |

Confident Strides
I have noticed that jockeys have a certain way of walking as they prepare for their mounts.
I wanted to paint something with jockeys because they play such an important role in this sport. |

Memories of August
Saratoga at one time only raced in August.
This season is a little longer now, but memories from this racetrack are still as exciting. |

Heading for Home
Listen to the sounds... hooves hitting the ground in a steady rhythm... but, not loudly.
A jockey maybe chirping to his horse.
A shout or two from the pack.
There is a muted rumble from the crowd in the distance.
Right now, quieter than you would think.
But, you can feel it coming, as they head into that final turn.
This is how I describe this painting. |

Saratoga Summer
The classic first turn, at the classic racetrack, which began in 1864.
It is one of the few remaining racetracks that have kept the original building still beautiful. |

Oklahoma Morning
There is something about the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga in the morning.
That I can't get enough of.
I have done many more paintings her than I have done of the main track.
There is something about the way the light comes up over the trees that is truly romantic to me. |
